Throughout her career, working in the private, public and academic practice of landscape architecture, Girling has focused on open space design at several spatial scales - yards, neighborhoods, and open space systems. Scholarship, creative work, service to the profession and studio teaching weave together in her professional and academic work.
Cynthia's lecture titled "Green Infrastructure for Winter Cities, strategies for greener, friendlier streets in cold climate cities" will cover principles of green infrastructure as applied to streets in cold climate cities. The focus will be on strategies that concurrently reduce the environmental impacts of street systems while improving the quality of street spaces for pedestrians and cyclists.
